The 2025 New England BIPOC Fest promises to be a day filled with music, art, food, and community connections, showcasing the talents and contributions of BIPOC individuals in the Seacoast area. Attendees can look forward to a diverse lineup of performers, artisans, and food vendors, as well as interactive workshops and discussions promoting dialogue and education. Admission is free.

Happening Now - Art & Poetry Challenge 2025 Submissions deadline August 31

The Racial Unity Team is hosting its seventh annual Art & Poetry Challenge in 2025. New Hampshire residents are invited to submit a poem or visual work of art inspired by this year’s theme:  “Building Bridges, Tearing Down Walls.”


Now open for submissions. Participants must submit their poem or their original artwork by August 31, 2025.

The Art & Poetry Challenge, an annual Racial Unity Team event, showcases human connection through the arts. K-12 students and adults were invited to submit art or poetry based on the theme of “Belonging.” The exhibit examines the opposing concepts of belonging and exclusion as experienced in our world today.

On display July 3 -30, 2025 Portsmouth, NH

 An exhibit of 63 works of art and poetry by residents across eight New Hampshire counties will be displayed at the Portsmouth Public Library July 3-30, 2025.

Community Dialogue - Racial Unity Team, Phillips Exeter Academy, and SAU16 will partner to host an o

Community Dialogue  with the  Racial Unity Team.  An opportunity  to hear form the Board and Chief Operating Officer and  engage in community dialogue about Belonging or Not Belonging.  We hope to offer a space where people from all backgrounds can come together to listen, share, and understand one another beyond headlines or stereotypes.  Share this posting with someon you know.

World Refugee Day - Saturday, June 21st from 10:00am - 1:00pm

 Save the date: Saturday, June 21st from 10:00am - 1:00pm is World Refugee Day. This year, the Racial Unity Team is collaborating with the International Institute of New England to support refugees in New Hampshire. The event will include food vendors, activities for children, resource tables, performances, and more. It is free for the community to attend. Visit the Racial Unity Team table to learn about the work it does supporting New Hampshire since 2015. 

Juneteenth Celebrations Saturday, June 19, 2025

 Juneteenth Art Off the Walls 

The Racial Unity Team has teamed up with Currier Museum of Art to support Juneteenth celebrations that includes a children's program. 

 

  • June 19 from 5 to 8 pm
  • Free admission, though donations are encouraged
  • Dance and music showcase presented by the Racial Unity Team
  • Gallery talks inspired by Juneteenth
  • Beer, wine, and special refreshments for purchase at Tidewater Café at the Currier

While reading Frederick Douglass’ work is a powerful experience for many, it is only one piece of the long-overdue conversations that our communities need to have. We hope that the readings will be a starting point for these difficult dialogues and that they will provide an opportunity for us to engage in deeper conversations that will lead to actions to help build more inclusive and just communities today.

Native American representation at the event will be Denise and Paul Pouliot  Denise is the Sag8moskwa (Head Female Speaker) and Paul is the Sag8mo (Head Male Speaker/Grand Chief) of the Cowasuck Band of the Pennacook-Abenaki People headquartered in Alton, NH.
