The Racial Unity Team will host its 3rd Annual Racial Unity Day Art and Poetry challenge. Everyone is invited to submit a poem or visual work of art inspired by a line chosen from Amanda Gorman's Inauguration Poem, "The Hill We Climb."
The challenge is open to all residents of New Hampshire and the Seacoast Region. All contestants must submit their poem or artwork by September 1, 2021.
Submissions will be divided into four categories:
Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and Adult Contestants.
Winners will be announced in late September. Plans are to exhibit all submissions at the Town Hall Gallery in Exeter or in a virtual exhibit. Optionally, poetry winners will be asked to read their poem aloud and art winners describe their art in a special video.
A total of $2,800 in prize money will be shared among the winners.
Each contestant may submit only one poem or artwork for review. Poems may be 1-2 pages with no more than 50 lines. Artworks may not exceed 17x22 inches. Elementary Schools may submit a class project that include a poster size submission up to 34x44 inches. A 3-D submission may not exceed 30X30X42 inches, and up to 20 pounds.
If possible you are encouraged to complete an interest submission form by August 1, 2021.
